报告题目：Ices and hydrates under pressure

The properties of ice and its compounds under pressure are of interest to a variety of scientific fields: from technological applications for gas storage and transportation, to geological and astrophysical interest in their behaviour inside planets, and to simply fundamental interest in how hydrogen-bonded systems behave under external compression. In this presentation, I will discuss our computational attempts to understand ice and related compounds under pressure, highlight the usefulness of efficient methods to survey configurational phase space, and explore the possibility that calculations are accurate enough to be not only ‘predictive’, but ‘corrective’ , i.e. able to set straight unsatisfying experimental structural assignments.
