讲座摘要:Multicore technology has proven to be the only viable solution to achieve high performance without compromise power consumption. The use of multicore processors in embedded systems is growing rapidly due to the constraints on single-core processors performance in meeting the demands of the current generation of embedded applications. In order to harness this potential, system designers need to have available to them embedded operating systems (OS) with built-in support for available multicore hardware. This presentation describes our experiencing on designing, simulating and deploying multicore support in an embedded OS: a POSIX-compliant OS was extended to support Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) and Asymmetric Multiprocessing (AMP), simulated on ARM FastModels and deployed on a Xilinx ZC702 Evaluation Board targeting an ARM dual-core Cortex-A9 MPCore.
